Testimonials

“Rosa is an absolutely fabulous midwife. We worked with her for the birth of our first child and she did a great job answering every question we had along the way about any concerns. We felt confident she would be a good fit based on her high level of experience, as well as melding with us on this journey on a personal level. When I went into labor earlier than expected she talked through all aspects with my husband so we could make the decision whether to continue with our home birth plan (we did). Being new parents, we had a million questions as well and she was able to help us with those and eventually recommend a pediatrician when we reached that point for our baby. We can't recommend her enough, and hope to work with her again for future births!”

“As a midwife myself, I was able to turn off my brain and follow my body during labor, because I knew Rosa's brain was on. When everything was shifting inside of me, Rosa was my rock.”

“Rosa gave me options. With an uncommon pregnancy feature that left other midwives concerned about home birth, Rosa took on my case with calm and knowledgeable poise. With every part of my pregnancy she made sure I knew all the facts and let me choose, and whatever decision I made, she supported. As I continue to hear other birthing stories with standard hospital routines, I keep realizing how much Rosa empowered me with my own pregnancy and birth. Rosa gave me the freedom to decide how I wanted to birth, and the encouragement to do it.”

“I was lucky enough to get to see Rosa in action at my friends birth and I knew, after watching her at that very long and difficult labor, that I wanted her to be my midwife as well.   She is straightforward and knowledgeable and also deeply caring.  The prenatal care I received was never rushed and I felt that Rosa really went out of her way to give me personalized care.  I am now about to have my second baby and planning to travel from out of town so she can be my midwife! That’s how much I trust her and her skill set.”

“As a midwife myself I have a high standard for my own obstetrical care. With Rosa I was able to completely be myself in labor and experience birth in its most pure and raw form with a provider who supported me in all the necessary ways. When a small (but common) emergency arose with my first birth, I had every confidence in Rosa’s ability to handle the issue calmly and with great clinical skill. She has the perfect balance of poise and knowledge while allowing your  birth to unfold naturally and in a nurturing environment. I can not recommend her highly enough.”

“I had the great privilege of precepting with Rosa during my midwifery training. She has a deep and unwavering trust in birth. She holds the enigmatic and at times precarious nature of birth with confidence and ease. Rosa's diverse and rich working experience has shaped her into an extraordinarily skilled and seasoned midwife. She competently supports people through a healthy and safe pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.” — Jahan Zuberi

“I met Rosa at the birth center where I trained in El Paso, Texas. She was one of my preceptors at the time. I had several preceptors, but there was something different about Rosa.

As a brand new student I remember being surprised at how much Rosa believed in me and my ability to learn new skills. I loved working with her because it meant that I was going to be challenged, but also be supported. I would walk away, after working a shift with her, feeling confident and inspired.

She infused a similar confidence in our clients. I remember when clients had long, difficult labors, and doubt set in about their ability to birth their babies out of the hospital. Rosa would maintain a relentless faith in the process -- a faith that almost always resulted in a healthy baby born at the birth center. I can hardly remember a time when she transported a client to the hospital. I believe it is because she saw, in each and every woman, a capacity to birth her baby naturally.

Midwifery is not only about having faith. There are times when the process of growing and birthing a baby needs assistance. Complications and emergencies can and do arise. Some practitioners become jaded by these situations, allowing their foundations of trust in the human body to crumble. Rosa is perhaps the most intuitive and skilled midwife I've worked with. I witnessed her, time and again, resolve a complication or emergency and then attend the very next birth with the same solid faith.

Rosa is one of the wisest and most humble people I have known. She holds a quiet, steadfast strength that gloriously spills over into each client and student she serves, allowing them to tap into their own well of power.

I have her to thank for the midwife I aspire to become.”

"We were extremely pleased with our birth experience. Rosa was so supportive of all of our preferences and had great suggestions for natural remedies for pregnancy and postpartum ailments. She has a very comforting and warm presence, which put us at ease throughout our time with them. Being able to birth at home in the water with the support of whomever we wished to be there was wonderful and gave us a sense of security. I was able to completely immerse myself in the birthing process and let go. I would not trade my experience for anything. We are currently engaged again with her for our second pregnancy and couldn't be happier!"

"I truly believe that there is nothing more sacred and powerful than birthing your child. Rosa provides evidence-based skills and knowledge along side the capacity for holding, fierceness and love."

“Rosa empowers you to take control of your pregnancy and make your own informed decisions about birth. I wanted a provider who would let me take the lead but give guidance when needed, not someone that would bully or tell me what I had to do (I’m not big on rules!). I had an amazing, calm birth and caught my baby myself. Rosa never doubted my goals for a second. When I felt that I was going to have a girl she believed me. When I said my birth would be short, she trusted me. And when I said I’d like to breastfeed if I’m able, she said, “Of course you will!” And this is why I’m seeing her again for the birth of my second child!”

Down to earth, affirming, super knowledgeable and never alarmist, Rosa brings a depth of experience and a holistic perspective that anchored my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Her guidance is always gentle and empowering, and her dry sense of humor brightens even stressful conversations. I trust few other people as much as I trust Rosa and am so grateful to her for supporting both my children coming into the world.
